Carla van der Weerdt-Norder new member supervisory board AHK

On 20 March, the supervisory board of the Amsterdam University of the Arts has happily appointed Carla van der Weerdt-Norder as a new member of the board. Carla van der Weerdt-Norder is an experienced director and supervisor with an extensive financial background. In the AHK Supervisory Board, she is therefore, among other things, chair of the Audit Committee, which oversees the organisation's finances.

About Carla van der Weerdt-Norder
After studying business administration, Carla van der Weerdt-Norder (1964) pursued a career in Dutch banking. She was associated with ABN AMRO Bank for over 15 years in various positions, including as Global Head Operational Risk Manager and as Chief Financial Officer of the Transaction Banking business unit. From 2019 to 2023, she was Chief Risk Officer and member of the Executive Board of Triodos Bank. Between 2008 and 2019, she was a partner in consultancy firm Accent Organisatie Advies B.V.

Through her supervisory positions, she is familiar with higher education. For eight years, she was a member of the supervisory board of Saxion University of Applied Sciences and for four years of Inholland University of Applied Sciences. In addition, she was a member of the supervisory board of Triodos Bank, Binck Bank N.V. and housing corporation Habion, among others, and board member of Vastgoed Zorgsector. She currently chairs the supervisory board of health insurer DSW.

Jan Anthonie Bruijn, chairman of the supervisory board of the Amsterdam University of the Arts, commented on the appointment of Carla van der Weerdt-Norder: "The supervisory board of the Amsterdam University of the Arts was looking for a new member with extensive financial experience, and has found it with Carla van der Weerdt-Norder. Her track record in various financial institutions is impressive and it is a great advantage that she already knows higher education inside out. We look forward to an inspiring collaboration."

Supervisory board
The Supervisory Board is responsible for supervising the legality and effectiveness of the policies of the Executive Board. The supervisory board is the employer of the Executive Board and advises the college. As a supervisory body, the council has to express its opinion on the budget and the annual accounts, the articles of association, the management regulations and the institutional plan, among other things.
