Theory of Ice (2021) is a powerful act of world-building and creative sovereignty by Michi Saagig Nishnaabeg writer, scholar, and musician Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, who has been widely recognized as one of the most compelling Indigenous voices of her generation.

During this evening, Leanne together with Nick Ferrio on guitar, will share her musical storytelling in conversation with climate justice activist and film maker Chihiro Geuzebroek. The album departs from Leanne’s poetic inquiries into our relationship with water, and her cover of Willie Dunn’s “I Pity the Country”.

With “subtle calls for revolution”, Theory of Ice invites you to reimagine “your relationship to the people and places that keep you alive”. pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/leanne-betasamosake-simpson-theory-of-ice/
